• If Doris chooses the ‘healthier’ meal in Subway, she is going to take in 14822 calories, including the 1800 calories she burns during training every week and the 10850 calories she takes in for meals besides from Subway’s.
• A meatball marinara, a chocolate chip cookie, a coke will cause her to consume 871 calories.
• A Spicy Italian, a chocolate chip cookie, a coke, will cause her to consume 898 calories.
• A tuna sandwich, a chocolate chip cookie, a coke, will cause her to gain 908 calories.
• An egg mayo sandwich, a chocolate chip cookie, a coke, will cause her to gain 875 calories.
• A sweet onion chicken teriyaki, a chocolate chip cookie, a coke will cause her to gain 604 calories.
• A cold cut combo, a chocolate chip cookie, a coke will cause her to gain 789 calories.
• An Italian BMT, a chocolate chip cookie, a coke will cause her to gain 827 calories.
• The amount of calories she consumes in two months would be 118576. The amount of calories she would consume on a diet of McDonald’s standard menu would be 117448 after two months and the amount of calories she would consume on a diet of McDonald’s upsized menu would be 137720 calories. Therefore, we can conclude that the subway diet is not necessarily healthier than the McDonald’s standard menu but is healthier than the McDonald’s upsized menu.
3) Conclusion
• We searched for information on the Internet and did some calculations by adding up the calories she takes in for every meal in McDonald’s and Subway. Then, we analyzed the data. To make the data more reliable, we included her activity factor, her daily calories needed, the daily amount of calories she takes in besides from the meals in McDonald’s and Subway, and the amount of calories she used to take in before McDonald’s and Subway for comparison. So overall, we discovered that if Doris takes upsized meals from McDonald's for 2 months, she is going to consume 137720 calories and gain weight. This effect would carry on. Also, we found out that she would not gain any weight if she eats standard (not upsized) food from McDonald's. We also found out that eating food from Subway is not necessarily healthier than the food from McDonald's standard menu but it is definitely healthier than the McDonald's upsized menu.
